Vom Kampfgrat German Shorthairs was recently started as part of Battle Ridge K9, LLC.

Home of quality shorthairs from top working lines.

We hope you enjoy the pictures of our dogs in hunting situations as well as the pictures that show our dogs are versatile in the fact that they are being trained for Law enforcement purposes in the many fields of detection work.

The owner, Mike Mayes, is an avid hunter and has been involved with bird dogs, more specifically  GSPs, for over 25 years.  Mike also started Battle Ridge K9 in 1997 and has been training police service dogs for over 30 years.  With the love of German Shorthair Pointers, VK German Shorthair Pointers was formed.

The GSPs that we breed, train, and hunt are from imported lines from Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic and Germany.  These lines have proven to produce a well rounded dog that is at home in the field as well as the house.  All of our dogs are AKC registered.

We keep pigeons and bobwhite quail on hand to start training our puppies/young dogs and have access to several thousand acres of property to hunt and train on.

For puppies selected to go through our detection program we have different buildings we use to test and promote strong environmental issues.  We have also recently purchased a new building which is used to imprint puppies as well as some of our older dogs.

Our dogs come from a long line of champions. With decades of experience in the field, we know how to select the best of the breed for hunting.  Our dogs make quality hunting companions as well as the versatility of excelling in detection work.
